Dont know where this should go so perhaps mods will move if necessary, but I received this email today:

As you are probably aware, thanks to the sick behaviour of people who think using an air rifle against a defenceless animal is fun, the stag which was frequently to be seen in the burger van car park in Glencoe has had to be put down.

I expect some of you have photographed this animal, so its more for information than anything.

:gag: :nono: thats really nasty. Makes you want to turn the air rifle around and ... (but doesnt that make you almost as bad as them... almost)

B*******s should be put down as well:(

That is so sad. It makes me really angry and yet sorry for the state of todays society.

Me neither :( I just dont get it.

i was brought up, with my dad taking me shooting. he taught me i should never shoot an animal for fun, and only shoot at an animal you want to kill and eat. shooting an animal, just to hurt it out of evilness is wrong. they had no intention of eating it. just wanted to hurt it. which is wrong, and shows they have no respect for animals and try to make a clean kill so the animal doesnt suffer.

So much for all the gun controls we have, I seem to remember the air rifles law being changed in 2007, anybody know what they changed? because it doesn't seem to be making much difference, the scum still have theirs it seems. Wayne

The only changes to any gun laws only affect those who were registered, responsible keepers/users.

you see i see no problems in shooting animals, as long as your hunting, for food. and you do it humanely. they obviously wernt doing it for that. they were doing it to hurt the animal for kicks. it gives people that go shooting a bad name :(

Disgraceful carry on, utterly disgraceful.

Tell you summat, be nice to stalk the perpatrators of this act for a day in the glen with an air rifle, shooting them on the odd occasion,in sensitive rather than strategic places, lest they forget what they are out there for.

Disgrace, and shows that lack of discapline to children is causing this aweful state of modern society!

i mean you cant even eat stags can you? what is the point of shooting them?

and if they had to put the poor animal down they cant of been trying to kill it. as hunters try to kill on first shot

what a horrible thing to do :shake:

I remember punching a kid at a friend birthday party when i was 15 for shooting a little gecko with an airifle when i lived in portugal. knocked him out cold i dont think he liked it but i hate animal cruelty :cuckoo:

once i shot a brace of rabits, my dad made me practice for ages before he let me loose with the gun so that i would kill it instantly becasue my dad hates to see animals suffering perhaps they should shoot the people in the legs. and arms so they learn.

I'm sorry to hear that.

This makes me really angry and upset. Upset for the animal and angry at those with the air rifle.

I am an youth air rifle instructor, and I teach youngsters how to use, respect and skillfully fire an air rifle. Constantly I am battling to enure parents its safe, ethical (we only shoot at paper targets) etc.
I really hope those responsible get caught and punished.

i think this should apply to crime aswell, if someone beats up an old person like they did round here the other day and broke his jaw. You should do the same to them because thats the real deterant

Venison is deer meat mate, no matter if the animal is male or female.

as i said i dont see a ny problem shooting and killing animals, but there is a way and a place to do that. just because youve got a gun doesnt mean you can go shooting willy nilly, at any animal. with no thought about it.

Sad news - he was a fine looking Stag.

saying that i watched kill it, cook it, eat it last night and as much as im eat and love meat i do beleive that the relation between how many animals we kill and the demand is all wrong.

But then im of the mentality that just because i eat the burger doesnt mean i want to meet the cow...

im very adverse to killing animals for the sake of it, its horrible unless your going to eat it, it doesnt need to die

if we all just killed and ate what we needed it would cut down the amount we would have to kill :) the only thing i didnt used to like but i got over it was hitting fish over the head with a club. but again there will always idiots who think having a gun means they can go around shooting anythinjg that moves

for some reason these kind of conversations make me think of americans :p

There so retarded with guns its unreal

but like they say guns dont kill people.... people kill people.

Law was changed in Scotland (not sure about the rest of the UK) to make it an offence to take an air weapon onto anyone's land without landowner consent.
Laws only affect the law abiding.
Been umpteen attempts to completely prohibit air weapons, but all have been blocked by the Home Office.

Been much in the press about this stag. It was shot five times in the face and the local gamekeeper had to finish it.

The lowlife scumbags that did it were seen elsewhere cruising about in a car with air rifles.

I agree with this being blocked. Whilst it is a problem when it comes to a few yobs, there is a massive sport behind air rifle shooting. Those that abuse them, are in the minority.

oh ffs, that just shows how much society has gone to pot in the last generation.

I'll bet the wee bastids filmed on their phones too so they could post it on youtube to show the world what big hardmen they are :shake:

Minority or not, kids get shot dead or lose eyes etc from air weapons every year. Fire and ambulance crews regularly get shot at.

No wish to destroy legitimate use, but all air weapons need need to be subject to licensing so that they cannot be purchased by the riff raff.

i totally agree i used to love going shooting on my great uncles farm. but i wouldntdream of going mad shooting all sorts. i just shot rabbits on the farm and pidgeons and ducks

My Dads cat was shot eight times by some sod with an air rifle (8 times at the same time! not on 8 occations) She was lucky to survive, she still has two of the pellets as they are lodged close too to her spine to remove.

A local family of 6 swans (2 adults, 4 young) has recently been reduced to 3....the bodies of 2 were found headless. Believed to be local delinquents. Sickening!
