Would these cards all look the same? I bought two from amazon and they look different to each other but work perfectly. Would there be older/newer versions of these cards? Just wondering why they look different.

Did you buy them from Amazon or from an Amazon marketplace seller?

I only ask as there are a lot of fake memory cards out there which could be the reason for the difference

There are different versions, I've owned various Sandisk Extreme III cards (all bought directly from Amazon). The original one just states the name, the newer versions say something along the lines of 30MB/S underneath the name.

Funnily enough, I have a couple of flakey Sandisk cards bought from Amazon traders. Now I think back, one of them came without any packaging. How do you find out if they are faked?

Faked cards have square metal edges on the front

The writing on the front of the box on a fake is flat not raised like on a genuine example

Take a burst of shots and see how long they take to clear the buffer on your camera

another way to spot the fakes can be the card capacity - quite often they will show up at something significantly less than the stated capacity due to the (often) inferior quality components
