Poor Violas

These are the viola flowers that I photographed the other day, I left them laying out on a coaster in the conservatory to see what would happen and they not only started to dry out, but shrank as well, so much so that the piece of stone that these 3 flowers are sitting on is only 1 inch square. The blue colour has also become more intense as well.
I do like drying out flowers, you never know how they will look.

Your 2 viola shots are lovely, great colours in the first and textures in the second. Great idea too.
Love the colours in the jelly beans, a favourite of mine when walking in the mountains.
 
Another excellent shot - and I just love the vase (thing) Is that holes in it too?
 
Yes, they are holes, it's a satsuma skin, cut in half, dried, then the holes cut then varnished and stitched back together with copper wire. Very odd. I've got a one made from a pear as well, we must have had them over 20 years, the girl that made them had her first exhibition after uni in the local library & we picked them up from there.
 
Hi Sarah, another little catch up for me...some wonderful shots since I was last here, particularly the still life on April 8th...that's just an awesome shot :thumbs:

I really like that - I've got a big pile of satsumas in the garden at the moment :lol: Got to be worth a whirl ;)
 
Nice shot though this time I find the "vase thing" distracting me a little from the beautiful flower head - possibly due to the relative size and shapes..... :)

Naseby Memorial

Obelisk Memorial to the battle of Naseby in 1645.
Beautiful day today, so Andy went out his bike & I met him for coffee at Kelmarsh & then I drove home via Naseby, Haselbech, Cottesbrook & Brixworth. One of my favourite drives locally.
Also met another local photographer when standing in the middle of a stream.
