IIRC they think they know the season and, as you say, the time of day but the year can only be guestimated at around 66 million years ago (give or take a few thousand years, apparently!)

all we are doing is stinking up our planet for the next generation to deal with and it will be awful, i had the awful experience of having to go to central london a week ago to install some network switches in Ealing covering for our team member down there and it was vile , it was so polluted and like Delhi, couldnt wait to get back to yorkshire
