SB400 recycling times

I have had my SB400 for several years now & it has never appeared to be very quick on recycling between shots both with normal alkaline batteries & also 2000mah rechargeables. It can take 10 seconds plus to recycle on a recently charged set of batteries.

What times are others achieving & what batteries do they use?

10 seconds??? Nikon state it should be 2.5.......
