SB600 help needed please

I tried to use my SB600 off camera for the first time in ages and cant get the bloody thing to fire !!

works perfectly on camera and has new batteries

its something I'm doing wrong but what ?

read the book but cant see anything

Its coupled with a D90

any ideas folks please ?

ok, usual granny and egg questions, is the channel and A/B group set to same on camera and flash?

pop up flash popped?

little infrared circle on side of flashgun can see the flash from pop up?

I had a different channel set on the camera than the flash

I dont use it enough to learn it
