can anyone talk me through how to set my sb900 up so it works fully automativally ?? i usually use aperture priority and sometimes manual mode - nikon d300
also how do you control the power output if you think its overexposed
i have the manual but not making head or tail of it

I assume you mean on camera? If using it off camera or via CLS it's a bit different.

For full auto, you want it set to iTTL mode. (check this by referring to the top left of LCD)

In TTL mode you don't adjust the power per se, but you adjust the flash compensation by pressing the +/- button.

And if you planning on shooting anything more than a couple of metres away, watch your shutter speeds as over 1/250 you are into FP (focal plain) mode and the power drops right off... which will potentially cause surprising results...
