ScanDisk Compact Flash issue

Hi,

I have a ScanDisk Ultra II 4.0GB which is playing up !

I have recently return from holiday and some of my photos on the disk are displayed grey when I view them in Windows Explorer !

It seems there is some corruption with the photos perhaps, however when I viewed the photos on the camera ( EOS 7D ) every thing seemed fine !

So I am not sure what has happen ! ?

Any ideas please ?

have you tried to plug the camera into the computer via usb or tried a different card reader. if this fails try to format the card in camera before you use it.

Hi, I have tried the USB cable and no joy, and I have 2 card readers on my PC and both display the grey images above !

Have you tried to upload them to another pc? It could be an issue with windows?

Well if it's Scandisk that could be your problem, where did you get the card?

Dont mean to be pedantic but it's Sandisk not Scandisk.

Have you tried Sandisks own recovery software, you sometimes get a copy with the card on a tiny CD.

It doesn't necessarily help with these - but have you updated to the latest firmware? I had some issues like this before updating. See canon or park camera site.

Sandisk's rescue pro software is well worth the money if you don't have a valid voucher code.
We had a hard drive fail minutes after 8Gb of images had just been cut from a card and pasted, loaded up the rescue pro and retrieved 99% of the shoot and some other images that were taken months before.
The card had been formatted loads of times, but the software still brought the old images back

Will they open in Photoshop or Lightroom OK??
When you bought the card was there not a recovery disc with it for situations like this

I would e.mail sandisk,and tell them the problem,the files are still on your card,because you can still see them on your 7D screen,whatever you do not format the card,till you can find an answer

I have down load the sandisk recovery took, just need to gine my licence number.
Then I will give it a go.
In the mean time I will try again on my laptop and see if this has the same problem as my PC !

Hi all,

I have found an activation code my my PC hard drive from when I purchased the 4GB Ultra card.
So I loaded and ran the Rescue Pro Recover Tool and all the photos that I have deleted from the card plus the greyed out photos were recovered ! !
Amazing,....result !

I now have my missing photos back.

Recovered all photos on my card, plus the wife has mentioned to me she had many months she deleted all her photos on her SD card by mistake, and had kept quiet about ! !

Now I have my activated software I easily rescued all her deleted photos,...result !
