Scrabble tiles

We were at a central London at the weekend and saw some interesting photographs of computer keyboard keys. I am going to mess around, probably in B&W next week while we're away for a week, using Scrabble tiles instead.

I am thinking of using the 105mm macro lens, which is nice and fast so I can play around with depth of field etc. Given that they're slippery-ish tiles, I won't be able to get much tilt on the arrangement, which means photographing from above. Is that a daylight scenario or bounce some flash off something.

Any tips or suggestions gratefully received.

thanks

Ralph

PS Scrabble even - can't edit subject thread.

You could use double sided tape or blue-tak to hold them in position

Huzzah! thanks. Other than tilting using blu-tak any other words of wisdom?

As it's a static subject, you get the opportunity to play around to your heart's content and find some interesting angles. I often find with something like this that that is half (or more) of the fun. Perhaps the board laying flat will give rise to some interesting shadows, if light is coming in through a window. You could always soften the light by hanging up a white sheet or something like.

No rude words, though.:)
