Hi there, just brought a sigma 1-20 lens for a canon 40d. What is best used to avoid the lens being scratched Thank you ( New to all this hehe)

If you mean the 10-20mm probably a filter. I checked on Warehouse Express and there is no lens hood listed for that model.
 
Use a UV or skylight filter - although if you are going to use one make sure you don't buy a very cheap one.

If you buy an expensive lens but put a cheap bit of plastic in front of it then image quality will suffer!
 
I have just brought a polariser and an ND4 however the Cokin wide angle filter holder is out of stock and NOWHERE has one in stock. Have even rang Cokin and they do not know when they are getting anymore in. If I use it without am I in danger of damaging it?
 
How would you use it without? Blu-tack? Not advisable in case it drops and breaks! Anway I think I ordered a Cokin equivalent wide angle filter holder from Premier Ink a while ago.

I wouldn't bother buying the Cokin one myself, its overpriced because of the brand name.....considering its a piece of plastic really.
 
As I say I have not idea what I am talking about just starting off so will be asking stupid questions until i can grasp the basics.

Just use the hood that came with it, the front element doesn't really need more than that, it's pretty tough.
 
I used one of those in all sorts of conditions and never got a mark on it.

Just be carefull with it and it will be fine.
