Please can some one recommend a screen protector for my camera, I'm getting a little concerned, every time I put it round my neck it always seems to be wanting to rub against my clothing, obviously it won't be long before it gets marked :'(

Hi

I've a Giottos screen cover on my body, GGS is another make recommended by others on here.

I've had no issues with it, other than it does seem to get mucky easily, but I suppose the screen would aswell.

I've heard this argument a few times. I would counter it by saying the standard screen cover if removed for replacement will expose the LCD itself and create the opportunity for both damage and dust getting in during the procedure.

It is way easier to fit a secondary protector than to replace the factory fitted cover. Heating the back of the camera up with a hair dryer and prising the screen off with a blade is conceivably not something everyone with a £1600 camera body is going to want to undertake.

Personally I've got a Martin Fields protector fitted to mine (it also comes with a little one for the top LCD). Good fit and tough as old boots.

WOW I didn't know that Canon fitted a plastic protector over their glass screens, will try to look it up in the manual and if that's the case with the 5d mk2, it does seem overkill to put another protector on.

Back to screen covers, will look at recomends :thumbs:

Indeed, requires a bit of dexterity. But it is not that bad if you are careful.

To be honest I have marked up my back screen a little bit and made a mark on top screen. Don't really bother about it as its doesn't prevent me from using the camera. Will replace it once it gets worse. I don't use the camera because it looks pretty, not meant to be luxury accessory. :)
 
Been using GCS for as long as i can remember without issue, on my second one on the 5D2 after the first one did its job and saved the screen :thumbs:

You make a fair point and I agree to an extent. However, I must think of the day when I may want to sell the camera on and even cosmetic damage is going to impact the used price.

Despite the screen protector I have fitted being tough it is now scratched and looks tatty. I wouldn't change it for this though as, like you say, it makes b****r all difference. But it is good to know the underlying screen will be pristine when I peel it off.

Exactly my thoughts, I'm not bothered about the cosmetics ether but I may want to sell/trade on in the future (5D mk3 :shrug:) So a screen protector that I can take off easily would only benefit me.

Another vote for the Martin Fields screen protector here. After taking some heavy gouges out of the screen on my 1D, I wanted to be more careful with my 5D.
