One or two on here have asked about my interest in scrollsawing.
I grabbed a few quick shots this evening. I think I might have been better using a tripod!

Spirit of the feather.

I am now experimenting with Birch branchwood to make small boxes. The idea is once I get it right I will try to sell a few to pay for some food for the squirrlies:D

Great stuff Charlie (y) love em all but the box is great and usefull :clap:

As above.

Really like the boxes. Personally, I'm thinking josstick holders...............

what sort of size's are the boxes, and what price

I have made boxes from 2inches to 8 inches long. The thing about them is that I can even use curved branches.
They come from about 3/4 inch deep to 11/4ish.
Not even thought about pricing yet as I am still trying to get it perfected.
I was hoping a local craft workers shop might be interested in sticking a few on their shelf.

I made one as a spec case.:D
Gave one to a friend who works in an office. She uses it for her paperclips.
I will measure a josstick this weekend;)

Wow!

Those are amazing :notworthy:
I agree that the box is gorgeous, but I'm just bowled over by the detail in the feeather - absolutely beautiful (y)

Thank you. Most of what I make is given as gifts ( current project a pull along pig for a wee boy I have never met ):)

The story of how the box came into being.

A number of years ago I had an owner driver hauling timber for me.
He phoned one evening to say his lorry was stuck in the forest & could I help him get a pull out.
This was done & Donald (who was also a very good friend)
phoned to say he was out & would start to load up.
Next morning I got a phone call to say I had a dead body in the wood.
I rushed to the site to find poor Donald sat on his timber crane but unfortunately he was dead.
He must have died about 30 mins after I spoke to him & had been up on that seat all night. Lorry engine was still running, lights on etc.
The mountain rescue were called out by the police to get him down & they asked me to go for a walk for a wee while.
Wandering through the wood I found an Oak branch which I took home. When that dries I thought I will make something in memory of my pal.
Donald's box still sits on my desk.

What an amazing (if not somewhat sad) story, Charlie.

Great work too, the "spirit of the feather" is my favourite piece,
very cleverly thought out I might add

How do you get the bark to stay on? i bought some back with me the other day to burn and it drops off really easily do you glue it?

Donalds box is now about 9 years old & the bark is still firmly attached.
I cut the wood green then dry it inside & have had no probs.

Thank you. Donald was a west coast man & spoke with a real soft voice.
I have lost a few in this glorious wood game, but Donald was just that bit special.
There was another young lad of 19 who took his own life that will not be forgotten either.

The feather though is not my original. I just followed a pattern:D

Now you have spoiled the illusion :(
You should have just agreed with me and I would have been none the wiser :D
