Have just filled a Scandisk Extreme SDHC card, popped it into my laptop and opened an image in CS5, when I went to save it photoshop crashed and since then my SD card will not work in either camera or laptop.

The laptop doesn't register at all and the camera shows 'ERR' on the top LCD screen and won't allow me to format it.

Would really like to retrieve the photos on it, any help?

I think if you read the CS5 manual it tells you not to edit images straight from the card.

As for recovery perhaps it might be worth a try with one of the recovery software solutions.

Yeah appreciate that but was being lazy.

I managed to get the card to appear in my computer on an old laptop. I then right click and did a format which after failing a few times finally worked. Currently on with recovering now.

Cheers everyone.

Was always my intention to recover the photos but my problem was actually getting the camera or laptop to acknowledge the card.

Somehow an older laptop has accepted it has let me do a format before a recovery.

Yep. I used the link supplied above.

Took a couple of hours and recovered 1051 from 1081 including all the RAW files too.

I think the prob was the card was full, then when I entered it into the laptop and opened a RAW file in CS5 it had no room to create the .xmp file.

In future will always copy off card first and also never let the memory card become full.

Good lesson to learn before doing a wedding tomorrow.

Glad you managed to recover the majority of your photos

Will download the software in the link just in case :)
