Hello,

I will keep this quick.

Can anyone recommend a good SD card for a 550d. Need something that's going to be good enough for the HD mode and about 16gb.
The one I have at the mo is cheap and real pants.

Isn't 10Mbps pushing it a touch for HD Video?

I know the 15 is a bit creaky at times.
 
For the filming side of the Canon series you need a memory card that has the writing speed of x133, slower then that will just eventually run out of the cameras own buffer and stop. (sandisks current labeled up cards are the Extreme cards.)

if 30Mb/S is approx x200, then those ones 15Mb/s maybe just pushing it.

That Transcend one looks interesting but Class 10 doesn't mean anything without an actual speed my Delkin 32gb (for video only cost £85) card is Class 6 x150 but can buy a Panasonic Class 10 which is the same speed... I need to actually need the classification system for these things at some point.



but then it's SanDisk so will probably work fine, (apparently Canon test with SanDisk & Lexar, Canon Training with my old job has left some random snippets of info in my mind)

Class is an official speed rating:

Class 10 = 10MBps
 
I'd def recommend Sandisck cards and Lexar cards.

Play, 7dayshop, Amazon (not marketplace) are good to look at. Jessops, Dixons group etc are also worth a look in case they have any discounts running.

Does the instruction manual with your body give any indication of what speed Canon recommend for your body ??
 
Thanks alot for all your help looks like a 16gb sandisk extreme would be a good option.
