Hello All, anyone have experience of using an adapter to use SD cards in the compact flash slot of a Canon 7D?
I have a few SD cards left from my Sony A500 (sandisk extreme III 32gb) but only one CF card to use in my newly acquired 7D.
Are they worth it? I only really shoot stills and have no need for video, at the moment.
Thanks

They work OKish but don't expect fast transfer speeds. Providing you don't want to use the 7D's rapid frames per second for too long it will do the job.

As Val says, if you're not machine gunning you'd probably get away with it but the speeds aren't great. TBH with the amount of cheapish CF cards about you'd be better off getting them just to be on the safe side. 7Dayshop.com have some reasonably priced CF cards, I bought some Duracell cards there and haven't had any problems with them and read/write speeds are very good.

Oh I see and I take your point, thanks for the link, I just thought I could utilise my 3x SD cards. The only CF card I have at the moment is a Duracell 16Gb 300x, is the Kingston a better one and will I notice any speed difference seeing as it is 266x?
Thanks for your help.

You probably know more about it than me. I've only had my 7d 2 weeks and it's my first dslr. I to have many sd cards however, as that price I am happy to use the cf cards, as thats what the camera was designed to use.

However I have had not problems with that card, and I purchased one from the link I gave. The seller gets stuff out super quick as well. I've used it for full hd video with no problems as well.
