sd card won't format?

Bought a 32gb sd card on ebay but when inserted in to my 450d the message to format it appears, but then i'm unable to do so through the camera menu!
The card can be read on my pc and works on an other camera.
Can the 450d handle a 32gb card, or is there any other issue or way to use the card?

hmmm 32GB SD card off eBay....maybe a fake..?

perhaps 'format' in the PC, then try to format in the camera

i only buy 8GB Kingston about £8......''link''
as I dont need high speed

if 'corrupt' only lose that days shoot
if EVER I get a warning from the PC or camera about errors, it goes straight in the bin

Well my faith in sandisk is totally shot now
Bought a new D90 as a second body for my D300 so neeeded to get an SD card for it
Already had a 4gb PNY in the old D80 which shows 475 remaining pictures
the new 8gb Sandisk showed 400
It is now reading far more but took a while to sort itself out

Does it have the little switch toggle on there for write protect?

Avoid ebay SD cards like the plague too, 8gb ones with 512mb on etc etc

SDHC i assume the 450d can accept

Hmmm. It's a bit like the aircraft captain coming over the tannoy and saying "there's nothing wrong".

Fact - Sandisk are among the best out there.

Fact - if you are going to forge a card, you forge one of the best rather than a cheapo one, so you can charge more.

Fact - if you buy a card for £4 from a dodgy source (and I include a lot of Ebay and Amazon traders in that) when it is £40+ is the going rate, then expect it to be dodgy.

Fact - photographic files vary in size so when you put an empty card in, the camera has to guess how many more shots it can take. As you take more and more shots, the camera can look at the file sizes and improve the guess.
