Whers the best place to purchase SD sards, and what are best types if im shooting in RAW. ive seen different ones on ebay and amazon that are much cheaper than in a photo shop.any help..

Just purchased a 32 gig SDHC card from My Memory

SanDisk 32GB Extreme SD Card (SDHC) 45MB/s - Class 10 for £21.99

If your shooting in Raw get a large card as above and get one with 45MB/S or higher. Slower cards are cheaper but your camera may stall while files being transferred from camera to card during continuous shooting. Also recommend minimum of class 4 preferrably class 10

I've been using Transcend for the past 18 months with no problems, bought from MyMemory via Amazon

Ebay have cheaper prices try them:)

Bazza, that's an awesome deal for a 32GB!

Michael, eBay also have a lot of fake, got to keep an eye out for the "too good to be true" deals

I would only buy from a reputable dealer that you know will provide a genuine card. I never buy from eBay or Amazon marketplace as there are just far too many fakes around. I use MyMemory or Amazon directly.

Very good advice. Another source of genuine cards is 7dayshop.com, although I'm not sure how they are for price these days. My last card purchase was actually on the High Street, from the oft maligned Jessops. Pack of 2 Sandisk ultra SDHC 4GB cost me 24.99. I'm impatient so wanted them NOW, hence the High Street purchase. Compare that to an old receipt I found - a pair of CF cards cost me £30 and that was after a £17.98 discount. The cards were 128 MB, yup MB!

Same as, I have 2 of the 8gb and I also purchased a 16gb sandisk extreme off ebay

touch wood, Ive had no problems with any - I always reformat in camera at the start of a new shoot

I got a bunch of Duracell 16Gb SDHC Class 10 cards from www.7dayshop.com under a tenner each. They have all worked flawlessly and are very fast when uploading to a computer.

Depending on the caqmera, you may well get away with the slightly slower SanDisk Ultra cards rather than the latest Extreme ones. Should be a fraction cheaper as well.
