SD Cards with USB gizmo

I'm about to change cameras and, with it, will come a change of media. From CFs to SDs. I notice, since I last looked at SDs, there's now a version with a USB tab.

Can anyone here comment on this? Is it just a gimmick? They would mean one less piece of kit (card reader) to be carried around when on holiday. My only concern, not having seen one, is whether the USB tab is robust enough in normal, everyday, use.

Never used one - can totally understand the benefits, but having seen them I would be very cynical about their robustness in frequent daily use, the hinge mechanism looks so fragile and delecate that I would probably dread using them to be honest.

tbh card readers cost so little, and 1gb sd cards can be had for less than £20, so i would just go the card reader route and not risk breaking delicate things with my big rough man hands!
