just wandering
i have a sandisc 8 gig extreme 30mb/s memory card and i was looking to order a few more, but does the quality of a picture differ if it is stored on a cheaper memory card.

i know the speed of the cheaper ones will be slower but for some of the stuff i photograph that wont be so much of a problem im more concerned about picture quality

Hi Mat

No won't make a difference to the quality of image stored, but as you say, the speed of saving / downloading maybe effected.

Don't forget, the possibility of a cheap card failing - hats not to say the likes of Sandisk / lexar etc won't, but how much are you saving V is it worth the risk of a corrupt card...

Matt it wont make a scrap of difference to images.

Some cards are reputedly more reliable than others, but a lot of the reputation is just good marketing. Sandisk always gets great comments on this forum, but Leica advise owners of the Leica M9 to avoid certain Sandisk memory cards and only certain Sandisk ones :thinking:

I do agree with Andy that extra cost on SD cards from cheap to best known is so small you may as well go from one of the better known brands like Lexar/Sandisk.

The card Andy says is 4p cheaper on Amazon :lol:

Worth a note, Play shows a 30mbs card, but spec says 20mbs, whereas 7 day say and show 30mbs...

I don't use play at all where possible due to this level of service. Im still not sure if it is the 20 or 30 MB/S version. Needless to say I did not place an order.



Just as an aside Matt, if you record video or shoot continuously a higher speed card is preferable if not a necessity.

i wasnt looking at getting a cheap memory card as such i just meant if i get the basic memory card

ive seen a sandisc for £6 where as the high speed is £12, but i think i will order 1 of each just incase i need the higher speed at some point
