Hi All

Hope this is in the right place.

As the thread title really. I have a Scandisc Extreme 8GB card but it's only recognise by my laptop if it's put in before booting. If I put it in after the pc is started it's simply not detected. Is there a fix for this? I did do a forum search but didn't see anything on this problem.

I've had it about 3 years, it's not been used a great deal and was OK in the beginning.

More an irritation than anything.

Have you checked in disk management, you may have a drive letter allocation error.
Go to disk management and look to see if it shows there, if so format it and assign a new drive letter, one that your system isn't using.

Thanks I'll need to read up about what you suggest to understand it better. I should have said that it's only this SDHC card I have a problem with I have 5 others and they are all fine.

to get to disk management on windows machine (not sure about W*)
right click my computer - choose manage - then look for disk management. you should see the card in there as a disk unknown
you can format it
assign a drive letter
low level format it etc etc
