SDHC to CF Adapters - Speed etc.

Is anyone actually using SHDC cards via a CF adapter at reasonable speeds?

I have a ton of high speed SHDC cards from my last two cameras, however, I've just purchased a 5Dc and whilst just being able to reuse them would be handy, it'd also be handy to avoid the use of an external CF reader (my laptop has an SD reader).

I have a feeling that it's not a solution that is going to work very well, but I wanted to check before I went off buying CF cards and readers.

I tried an SD to CF adaptor when I bought a 7D. It was very slow and I stopped using it after a very short time. Even the slowest of CF cards was better than the SD & adaptor combination.

It might be worth advertising for a CF-SD swap in the classifieds.

Buy one and try it! It will all depend on your shooting style if it is a problem I have a friend with a 5dc who has used one without complaint.

i have one for my eye fi card and is much slower to use than native cf cards but they do work

my thoughts are for the price of a cf adapter i could buy an 8gig cf card and use the sd cards for something else or as said above swap them for cf cards
