Seagull With Twig

The way these noisy devils were fighting over this bit of twig you would have thought it was the last one on earth. I watched two individuals fight for a good couple of minutes, great aerobatic display...the twig was dropped and recuaght in the air so many times it was brilliant to witness. This was the best i could get, handhelad and manually focused. Gotta start saving for an autofocus lens..!!

Brilliant shot. Looks more like a banner then a twig though. It is hard to get them in mid flight... they are so fast. Even on auto focus its a nightmare cause by the time the lens focused the target again has moved on. xxx

You have done really well to capture that image quite so nicely given the manual focus bit Lurch ... ... nice Black-headed Gull although it looks more like string or something than twig ... :shrug:

Thanks guys, i reckon it was a bit of wet reed as where this was taken they have planted a lot of new reed beds to oxygenate the lake as a lot of fish have been dying there recently.
