The 2nd shot is my preference did you shot it from the other side as well with boat in full view..

I prefer the second although they both could do withs som usm.

The jetty is a great lead...its a shame you couldnt have repositioned yourself so that you could have used it in a composition that would lead to the boat...that would have been great.

If that is HDR processing done on 'the light side' I'd hate to see what overcooked looks like

I don't like most "HDR'd" landscape shots and it really spoils these in my view.
