Hello. Any thoughts as to which I should get?
Canon 30D
or
Canon 40D

Need it for second body useage.

Depends what you can afford, if you can afford a 40D then get that. :)
 
40D. The operation of the the top mount switches is reversed on 30D to 40D. 50D is same as 40D. You'll confuse yourself if you switch between the two regularly. If the button + front wheel does one function, then it swaps over to the button + rear wheel.

Been there, done that...
