I have a D90 and a Metz 36 AF-4N. I also have an old Pentax AF160 flash. I'm wondering if by using wireless or optical triggers I can use them both for a basic lighting set up, with the AF160 as a remote slave. I don't have a separate light meter.
Can anyone suggest the best set up, assuming it is feasible/worthwhile? I'm a newbie to this so a detailed reply/explanation would be appreciated.

You want the RF-602 triggers from post #2 here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/for...d.php?t=157807 One transmitter and two receivers.

Thanks Hoppy. Is there any reason not to use the PT04 triggers?
I have seen light triggered receivers on ebay where the receiver picks up the master flash firing and triggers the slave. Are they any good? (I'm just experimenting so don't want to spend a fortune:)) David.

TBH I have not used either trigger as I have Pocket Wizards, but I hear good things about the RF-602. That doesn't mean the others are no good though! Ask FlashInThePan.

Yes you can use optical slaves but they have less range and can get blinded by daylight - Jessops sell a neat little hot shoe jobbie for a tenner, cheaper on ebay. If you are only going to use them indoors they will probably be fine, but I wouldn't rely on them outdoors.
