Hi All,

How hard/easy is it to install a second SATA hard drive?

Any pit falls or set up problems I should be aware of?

I am thinking of getting a second drive just for storage.

Thanks in advance.

Take care,

Keith

presuming its a desktop..

* open PC case
* screw in hard drive
* connect sata and power cables (assuming you have some spare)
* close PC case
* power on
* load windows
* format disk (if not pre-formatted) to NTFS

Most desktops are designed to be opened incredibly easily - mine is only with one big screw, and then the side just slides off.

OK it seems I spoke to soon as I have hit a problem.

I have installed a 1TB HD in my computer and it shows up in the BIOS:

Sata1: C drive HD
Sata2: DVD Rom
Sata3: New 1tb HD

However it does not show up in my computer.

Any ideas on what the problem may be?

it'll need to be formatted.
Assuming your using windows,

right click my computer
Click Manage
Click Disk Management
locate your new disk
Right click
Click format
Choose NTFS
Wait for it to finnish and then it should apear in MyComputer

All sorted guys, many thanks :thumbs:

Seems it wasn't active and I had to put it online :shrug:

Just thinking it would be great to have a nice new case to put it all in.... :lol:
