Second holiday camera

Hi all,

Me and my girlfriend will be travelling in SE Asia for the next two months. I´m taking my D7000 along with a couple of lenses. My girlfriend needs a new camera for the trip and she doesn´t want a bulky SLR. I´m tempted to buy the Nikon V1 here (but am a bit unsure whether it has a Nikon UK warranty, does anybody know?) and a second hand FT-1 adapter so we could share lenses (nice to have a bit of extra reach for the wildlife). The total budget is around 250 gbp. Do you guys think this is a good idea or would you suggest something else?

Hmmm, first instinct would be to suggest Fuji X10 for budget, but limited reach.
What about a pre-owned (possibly new?) Fuji HS30 or Sony HX200 bridge?

Other than in zoos there is no wildlife as the Chinese and Vietnamese have eaten it all or killed it for some other purpose.

Whoa, what? There is plenty of wildlife in SE Asia, yes some animals are killed for either food or herbal medicines which I may not necessarily agree with, but it is deeply rooted in local tradition and breaking that tradition will take time. It's not like Asians are the only culprits for damaging wildlife, every single culture and society in the world has done its fair share.
 
Im hoping there will be some wildlife left :)

I showed her the x10 but she didn´t like the feel of it, so thats unfortunately not an option. and neither are the bridge cameras.

The pen 1 is an interesting option, where did you find it so cheap? the cheapest one I can find on camerapricebuster is the e-pm1 for £210

I'd also look at micro four thirds range. Panasonic GF3 is heavily discounted at the moment, but if you buy used you may even get it with its famously sharp 20mm (its not the fastest to focus, but for holiday without too much sport action it should be great) for around £250. This kind of IQ would be tough to match for the price, plus its a very slim system.

The main downside would be lack of VF- and holiday usually means sunshine, but everything has a downside :)
