I'm shooting my brothers wedding this weekend ( yes I know, please dont. ) and the chap that was going to be assisting/2nd'ing has had to pull out due to a family death. So I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone wants the experience.

The wedding is on the 17th in the afternoon so the big problem is the failing light after the ceremony, in fact it's going to be pretty much dark when they come out. Group shots will be an issue but also the couple shots. So I'm going to be using flash, probably a lot of it so will need an assistant, preferably someone who knows how to work Nikon SB800/900's although we can go through that if not.

I'll also need the helper to take the group photos with me in them. I'm happy for you to use my camera for those shots depending on what you have. Those shots are probably the only ones I need someone to shoot but at any point I'm not needing someone to hold the flashes etc you'd be free to shoot away.

The Wedding is in Oakham, Rutland.

There's no pay involved as they have zero cash, which is why I'm shooting it as their wedding present, but we're all a bit nutty so it should be good fun. And you'll be free to experiment on your shots when possible.

One thing I will need though is that before you leave you let me copy all the images you've shot ( RAW really just in case ) because I will be producing an Album overnight for them. ( They don't know that so shhhh )

Anyway get in touch if you're interested and available on Saturday.

Can you get a remote wireless release for the camera then it will make it easier to frame up the group shots and be in them? I'm assuming you have a tripod... you could also do similar with couple shots and hold extra lights while you're out of shot. I'm sure another guest would help by making sure the camera didn't get knocked. I'd definitely form a plan B if you can't get anyone as weather for this weekend isn't looking great.

Oh absolutely it's no big deal if I don't get a willing assistant, I'll just do what I normally do and rope in one of the guests for holding flashes etc. The group shot is likely to be in the registry office so I might just get the registrar to do that for me to save setting up the tripod. Just thought it was worth offering to see if anyone was up for helping :)

As an aside I'm hoping for the wind to drop for Saturday, darkness and a bit of rain will be fine ( even if not ideal ) for what I had in mind for photos but wind will be an issue.

Should be a fun day whatever :)
