A couple of weeks ago, I traded a compact for a used DSLR body. Following the trade, the recipient called me dishonest, because the travel charger I sent had a two pin plug, and I hadn't mentioned it.
Yesterday, one of the first chances I had to use the camera, I took some pics of an Apache Crossbow helicopter which was flying overhead (using a small aperture). On downloading the pics, I noticed some spots on the jpeg, which at first I thought may have been small raindrops on the lens. I then carefully examined some other pics, and saw very faint marks. It then clicked - dirty sensor.
The camera was described as being ' boxed (genuinely hardly used)'
Here is a pic which I took today to test the dirty sensor theory:
There is absolutely no way that the previous owner of this camera could not have been aware of the sensor fault, it was so bad, yet no mention of it was made to me...... and he called me dishonest!
I took the body to my local branch of Wilkinsons this afternoon to have the sensor cleaned (£35). Fortunately, the sensor came up like new, but the technician agreed - one of the worse he'd ever seen.
I can't imagine why anybody would sell/trade a camera with such a fault and not mention it!!
