Ease of use, reliabilty, downfalls etc etc.....
 
What exactly do you want it for?

As in, it's very much a studio meter (although not solely that purpose obviously).

Who said I wanted it! lol :D.....too darned complicated for me that type of stuff..:D

I have a friend wanting to upgrade his L308.

I've personally never had any experience with these types of meters but the fact he is considering letting his old 308 go for a "can't resist" price and it would mean an upgrade for me from an old Weston meter then I offered to find some "real" feedback on the L758 to "help" him part with it.....:D

Mmmm the 308 is listed as a flashmate so is that a piece of kit destined for a studio also?....if so then it may not be worth my while as I shoot predominantly outdoors!

As for his work...I've only met up and shot outdoors urban/architecture with him but i know he does a fair amount of "indoor" work including the interiors of yachts and villas.
 
I use the 308S for my outdoor street work - it is a studio/flash meter but it's the one best suited for the outdoors stuff as well because it isn't as complicated or overfeatured as the other higher models in their range.

Uncomplicated will suit me as I've only ever took a Weston V EV reading and calculated in my head from there or simply used sunny 16 rule. so from what you say it sounds like the 308s will work a treat for me.

I have had it offered for the equivalent of about £60 if he takes the plunge on an upgrade......Going on prices i've seen elsewhare i consider that to be a bargain ...albiet the meter has cosmetic signs of been well used.

I've looked at reviews online about the 758 but they seem to be just marketing promos which i guess he has already seen ....... some "real" feedback to pass onto him would be much appreciated. ( and obviously to my benefit too!:D)
 
I've got the L758. It's very reliable and pretty easy to use once you've sussed out the controls. Build quality is excellent and it's extremely accurate, versatile too. The only drawback is if you want something portable for outdoor use - the 758 is quite a bit larger than the 308.
