Self portrait focus query

I am going hill climbing this weekend and I want to take a photo of myself at the top with the views of surrounding hills and valleys behind me. My question is how do I get the camera to focus on where I intend to stand when I will have to be at the camera to press the shutter release button to start the self timer. There is a cairn on the hill top which the camera will sit so no problems with stability but I just can't see how the camera will know where to focus. Can anyone suggest a solution to my query. My camera is a Sony A200 and I have three lenses to choose from 18-70 mm, 50 mm and 70-300 mm . Any help gratefully received. Thanks

Pre focus the camera on the approximate area you will be standing and switch to manual focus. Choose a small aperture like f/11 and set the iso such that the shutter speed is about 1/100s or shorter. You may need to widen the aperture to achieve this. Use the self timer.

The depth of field will be plenty to ensure sharpness if you use a wider focal length.

Or a wireless remote shutter release maybe

not sure on the range of those though

Half press and lock focus on the ground where you intend to stand on, lock focus and then switch lens to MF. Adjust composition, activate timed release and run like hell!
