why is it so hard to convince yourself to sell kit..

since i bought the 1D my 20D has been unused but as i shoot equestrian comps i kept it as a backup in case the 1D ever failed. although the 20D would never cope with the light levels in the indoor arenas.

so ive been debating whether to sell the 20D (gripped) and use the cash to help fund more glass which in theory would bring more money in from selling more prints potentially..

id just be screwed if the 1D goes down.

As a confirmed horder I cant possibly comment, only two cameras???? :)

Just how much would a 20D be worth? I have one, reluctant to sell it as it is a good camera as a backup. If its only worth pennies, I'd hold on to it. (edit - saw one on Ebay for approx. £120)

The best glass in the world is not much use if you haven't got anything to stick on the back end of it.

How about spending the money to upgrade the 20D?
 
Thing is Neil. You're screwed anyway if the 1D goes down over the next few months. 20D will never cope with the gloom. Sell it and save for another body...keeping your fingers firmly crossed.
Not sure how extra glass for the 1 will result in more sales ?
 
Sell it! You said it yourself, it wouldn't cope with the light levels anyway.
 
it won't loose any value while you save for another 1 series but it might save your ass if the 1d fails on an outdoor event whereas what does the hundred something quid give you short term?
 
If it's any help I been scoping the ebay for one of these for a few weeks and going price (only had mine for 2 weeks) was around £160-£170 for a good example, but of course you have to minus your fees and delivery off that.
 
I bought a 7D earlier this year and my 40D is now back in its box doing eff all. I'm also not sure whether to sell the 40D or not. Probably should, as I'm never likely to be in a position where I need a second body and it's value will just keep reducing the longer I delay.
 
I don't think I'll get rid of my 20D, it's not really worth all that much anyway, I doubt you would get much in the way of decent glass for what you sell it for. My 1D has died before and my 20D saved the day.
