I was just wondering why with all the skilled members of this site there isnt a section for buying and selling photography?
Or am I missing it? :o
 
Interesting question - would a photographer often buy photos? Presumably they'd usually rather display their own best pictures, rather than someone elses...? :)

The majority people here aren't interested in photos, they're interested in cameras.

Being serious though, although I do enjoy some of the photographs posted to here, I never remember seeing one that made me think I'd like to buy it. I do eventually want to cover the walls of my home in photographs that I enjoy but I can think of a lot of places I'd rather look for them first.
 
If I see a photograph on here that I like, I'll ask where it was shot. Then I'll stick that into the "Must go shoot here" list. While there are far better photographers on here than I am, there's no way I'd put someone elses photo on the wall - that's MY gallery space!

that and, unless you're Crewdson, the demand for art photo prints is really pretty small...
 
Isn't it more that the people on here think/hope they can take similar photos, although if I think I'd like the photo there's nothing stopping me asking.

I once got a photo of my car from a photographer here. We'd worked out we'd been stood next to each other at a circuit when we post posted similar shots of a crash.

I'm going to disagree, yes I can go out if I know where a picture is taken and try my hardest to get a great shot, heck I may even get a better one.

BUT if I see a picture on here that floats my boat so to speak I have no problems with contacting the person and asking if a copy is available for sale, in fact I've done just that already, I'm not shallow enough to think my shots are the best or only my work is worthy of hanging on my walls
 
Pretty much agree with Gary TBH. I have contacted someone here about buying a photo - my wedding photographer was also from TP and I've asked 2 more togs here about other kinds of shoots.

TP isn't the place to sell images, but to share - however most people I'd imagine, have the inititive to enquire about the sale of an image, should they desire to do so.
 
i wouldn't buy anyones image here. i have some canvass prints of my images. i want to say that is my image on the wall. Not someone else's image.
