Sending large files

What would you say the best way to send eg: 300 full res images?(10mp per pic) I have been asked to supply some to a magazine.

FTP? send space?

What do people usually use? :shrug::)
 
The only way to do this online IMHO is to use a paid service such as rapidshare (not a very good example as its unprofessional). Online space generally isn't cheap. Why not burn a DVD with all the files on, and if you don't have a writer then buy a cheap 2GB+ usb pen from 7dayshop.

That way they don't spend hours downloading and you uploading. otherwise :shrug:
 
A DVD or key is the way to go, 3gb is just too much to download for most places.

If you don't want to do that ask them what their preferred method is! Possibly they have an FTP site setup you could upload too.
 
slightly off thread - apologies - but how do you get your work published. I would love to get into a magazine.

BTW I think sending photo on disc is easier
 
dropbox might work for this - you get 2gb on a free account, more if you pay. You can share a folder that way so the client can download the images itself. Easy to set up.

I also use youendit a lot as well, but on a free account, you're limited to 100MB per upload, but there are no bandwidth restrictions, so you could send images zipped up in batches. Also works well.
 
Use Sendspace, it's free and efficient. I transfered around 1.4 gigs of images over that a couple of weeks ago.
 
Ditto to asking the magazine, they should be geared up to receive images. As with comments above anything like Rapidshare/yousendit doesn't give the impression of professionalness (oooh new word) an FTP account for wherever you host your website would be the best bet.

By sheer luck! Well, I covered an event for my friends website (www.4clubbers.net). It turns out their photographer was'nt there or had a problem. After handing the organisers of the event my card, they got in contact.:D
They want to use my images for a magazine feature and possibly promotional stuff. I have charged them for my images and I got into the event for free (£180 a ticket! ) :clap::woot:
I have covered loads of events this way, and gained lots of valuable experience. Theres loads of photographers in this competetive market, I suppose your work sells itself in this case. Its all about getting you name out and making contacts. ;)
Thankfully from my friendships on 4clubbers.net, I have met lots of promoters and Dj's. :)


And as for the sending, the company is based in ibiza and they want the pics for Friday. I'm gonna have to send them the long way......

Another thing I have to get sorted. I've been so busy with gigs at the moment, ive just not had chance.
