sensor clean

If i took my camera somewhere, would they be able to clean the sensor there and then for me?

Some do, some don't.

My local shop wants the camera for 24 hours. Another place in London did a clean while I waited.

Nat - if you fancy it, try FiTP's sensor swabs. I am seriously scared of cleaning mine but the swabs make it a breeze.

They are dry static swabs so only deal with dust bunnies... what sensor infection you packin? :P

FWIW I'm going to try Dust Aid Platinum - I like the fact you don't have to sweep across the sensor.

mmmm I may try FITPs swabs, but seriously I am terrified of cleaning the sensor.

I'll show you a landscape shot I took tonight, with not dust bunnies, but dust monsters!! Ignore the photo in general...no PP...

I've tried doing it with the blower but it just won't shift it, but that could be cause I'm a bit shy with it... :(

Nat - that is seriously not bad - especially at f20.

Swabs will clear that up no problem. Just use the following smoothtips:

  • Buy yourself a couple of packets - you don't want to be left short of getting the job done, and you can always save the extra for next time
  • Allocate yourself an hour to get the job done properly; definitely not a job to be inpatient with.
  • Only use each side of each swab once; sweeping in different directions.
  • Get the camera tethered whilst cleaning so you can see instant results on screen after each swipe
  • May be teaching to suck eggs- find a room that is the least dusty in your home. When taking lens off/on make sure you keep camera pointing downward to limit more dust getting in.
  • When clean, prepare thyself a large glass of wine, enjoy, and smile in the satisfaction that you have slaughtered the dust bunnies.
HTH :D

Think that'll be the way to go, if I can't get it done tomorrow TBH.

I love photography but hate cleaning the stuff! I think it's made worse by my hands being gammy it's more frustrating and the fact that the place is always a bit dusty - we have 3 cats, 2 are long haired, so there's always cat fur.

I know it's been worse, but for the life of me, I can't get it clean.
