Get over it
For the first time ever, I have self cleaned my D3 sensor!!!
Anyhoo. It was an absolute DODDLE, easier than actually taking a photo.
1: Charge Battery
2: Set Timer to 30 seconds
3: Remove your Sensor Swab from its packet
4: Drop 2 or 3 drops of Sensor Cleaning Fluid onto the swab
5: Open the shutter and expose the sensor (lens off, manual focus will allow you to fire the shutter)
6: Using the sensor swab, drag it once to the left, and once to the right, with a fair but of pressure...
7: Close the shutter
8: Stick lens on, and test at your smallest aperture on a white surface
9: If required, use the rocket blower on any remaining "non stubborn" crap

Jobs a good un!
All the usual yada yada, if you try it and break your gear, don't blame me
Gary.

Please tell me the magnificent D3 does actually have a mirror lock up mode in the menus for sensor cleaning? so you are NOT doing it while the sensor is charged during a 30 second exposure?
i like your style. Well done for cleaning your sensor
