Sensor Cleaning Fear!

Just a semi-serious thought amongst the mirth.....

...... probably just needed a blow with a "rocket blower".... it's not very often a sensor needs a 'violent scrubbing' with fluids :)

Another serious thought. Use sensor cleaning mode. I know someone who used the 30s shutter and mistimed it. Crashed an Arctic Butterfly into their sensor. Nikon don't do the hot mirror (sensor cover) as a spare so it was a whole new sensor - £1800!!!!

I had been blowing it for 6 weeks, with absolutely no joy. I had very stubborn marks, I always get them, and have taken my camera for a clean every 6 weeks (and it needed it every time, the guy was always shocked at the mess)...

I have 3 cats and a dog, not ideal for camera cleanliness.

Typical Edinburger then :D I really hope you haven't got the photos from that one. :woot:

Where does sensor cleans? Ive a d300 but really unsure on doing it myself, would sooner pay someone to give it a full once over, Any ideas?

Have noticed a few bits of dirt on some of my recent images. I am gonna try and rocket blower first, but if this fails may well go and have a go myself as I would not know who to trust with my camera locally for a wet clean. Went into Jessops in the town centre the other week, asked for a price on a canon lens and the girl behind the counter had no clue what the numbers meant and sloped off the try and look it up on the computer!!!!
