Sensor cleaning

Just looked at my Nikon D200's sensor and there is a little oily mark and a tiny hair on it (can be seen in pictures but not physically on the sensor).

What should I do? Use sensor swabs or something?

Advice appreciated :).

Hi Scott,

Yes get the correct size sensor swabs and cleaning fluid. A wipe one way then dry the other then throw away. It can sometimes take me 3 or 4 swabs to get the sensor right.

Be patient, take your time and it is easy.

You could also do with the artic butterfly which is basically an antistatic brush for the sensor. BUT don't use this if there is oil on the sensor as you will only spread the oil onto the brush and in future spread this every time you use the artic butterfly.

I am of course assuming you have something like the rocket for blowing the dust out already, if not buy one as well.

Best regards

Chris
