Sensor Cleaning

Am contemplating moving to Nikon FX in the next few months (from Canon 7D) and after a few discussions with some fellow Canon owners over the weekend about the subject of sensor cleaning not one of them has ever had occasion to do so - that's several 5D MK2 & 3 owner's and other 7D users, however, of the handful of Nikon owners I know (D800/810 and D750) ALL of them had to have their sensors wet cleaned within a few weeks of ownership or shortly therafter.

Have you had to wet clean the sensor in your cameras yet? If so was it shortly after purchase and what was the brand/model?

Had a D70s/200/300/700/750/D3s and 800. Only ever had too wet clean the sensor on the D70, never on any other body. I`m also not bothered about changing lenses whilst out and about, so not really a Nikon fault to be honest.

The only camera that i had that needed a good wet clean,was the Canon 20D

We have several dozen Canon and Nikon DSLRs. Every single time we send one out, we check that the sensor is spotless. My experience is that the Nikons tend to need more work than the Canons. I don't know why. The Canon in-camera cleaning seems to be effective most of the time, but for Nikons we tend to need to deploy the other tools (rocket blower, Arctic Butterfly, wet clean) more often.
