Can anyone advise as to what this might be? Oil or dust?

A heavy crop of a couple of frames I took with my D7100 the other day. I'm wondering what the spots on the images are. The two shots were from a bracketed set, so taken literally less than a second apart. The 'blobs' have obviously moved in that short time, camera was on a tripod.

I've had dust bunnies before but never this many.

midges?

take another shot of say the sky somewhere else as see if the spots are still there

Since they've moved between shots, they're not dust bunnies! I think Redsnappa's call of midges could be on the right sort of track, although I would say more likely bats or birds.

Thanks all.

It did cross my mind about birds/insects etc but I always keep a look out for such things before firing the shutter. Maybe I just missed them this time around. I'll have to try a few test shots indoors and see how I get on.

If it's a heavy crop at dusk, you may well not have noticed a murder of crows in the distance!

Any chance of seeing the whole scene to get an idea of how great the crop is?
