sent a lens off to Nikon for estimate on repair

I rather stupidly knocked my tripod over with an 85mm Micro Nikkor macro lens attached to a D90, anyways the lens is busted, the glass is ok as is the mount on the camera, the AF, focus ring and mount on the lens didn't survive the 2ft drop as it landed lens first :gag:

what is the turnaround time, any ideas of cost? :thinking:


i've got another lens I can use, but being a lens I use for work, its a major pain in the Julius Maximus, as I don't want to be without it for too long.

I sent my D3S for repair last Wednesday, had an email today to say it's repaired and on it's way back, so I should get it tomorrow. Three working day's in total. :thumbs:

btw, was that the D3s with the cracks around the lens mount after taking a nose dive onto concrete?

No, mine went in for an aperture control fault, the second time in five weeks the first time it went in for a focusing problem so hopefully they have got it right this time. I must be fair to Nikon service the turn around is only a few days in my case.
 
Wait time varies massively depending on whether you have NPS membership or not.

Call them and find out - they quote average wait times.
 
Well Nikon took over 3 weeks to fix my grandson's D40 after estimating 7-10 days :(

Intro2000 fixed my Tamron lens in less than 7 days (including shipping both ways) :)

You pays yer money and takes yer chances ......
 
Update, received an email from Nikon, so at least they have my lens :)
 
Update, Nikon have emailed me, £188.33 for lens repair, I've accepted it, much cheaper than a new lens :)
 
Update...

Nikon have repaired it and now returning it to me :)

It only cost £120 for the repair

II've got my lens back all working, well impressed with how speedy the process was :)
