Since I spent this summer chasing/photographing Butterflies, Ive kinda negelected observing my local Adder(Vipera Berus) population.
So last Sunday/Monday, i dropped into "Area 2" in order to see if any were about.
Note- since these snakes are venomous, caution should be adopted, I never handle them, i never "set them up" for that perfect shot. I take photos of them as i find them, in their natural habitat/surroundings. Hence 99% of my images, will often have vegetation/plants/twigs/branches in the shot.
But on occassion, i do get lucky, and find a snake out in the open, with none of the normal obstructions included in the image...its a rare finding though!
Some photos, cheers.

Another shot of the same snake, she is a stunner.

This adder is either a neonate(newborn, 2013 snake) or at the most a juvenile(being born 2012). Whilst photographing a common lizard, this tiny snake came out of nowhere, within 3 feet/90cms of me....Here i caught a shot of it as it slithered between the rays of sunlight.

As i said earlier, on occassion you can get lucky, and i was very lucky to have this juvenile adder move onto this log, and start basking in the sunlight.
This last photo is not cropped at all.
