setting camera up through Computer

Does any one know how i can do this? :thinking:

I have a laptop with Vista - i have new version of photoshop etc (dont know id that makes a difference lol)

And i have a canon 400D, have the cables and disc some where...

Help... lol
 
What do you mean by "setting up"? With EOS Utility (on the disk) you can put your name in the settings and fiddle with the date but not sure what else you want to do.
 
Oh sorry , i meant -

Using your PC to view photos, as you take them, as in have your camera plugged into computer, like they do in studios...
 
You need to use EOS utility to access remote viewing. It's on the CD that came with the camera.
 
Ok, loaded the cd on. One problem ..

The cable i have with my camera doesnt go into my laptop... it works in my TV, but there is no Video out point on my laptop...

Do you think i can get HDMI cable for my camera?
 
You just need the USB cable.... Pretty long one too comes in handy
 
I just realised its the usb cable... lol (dumb ass!!!)

I tried to use it but it wont let me...says 'set up camera/shoot remotely'

camera settings / remote shooting

But i cant click it..
