I truely am rubbish and need some pointers fast about how to set up my wt-3.

Routers - Any Recomendations as to which is best. I'll never be more than 200m away so I guess the best you can recomend that will reach within that range comfortably.

Any links to a "how to" set up?

I've used a WT-4, and they are a bit of a pig to set up.

The WT-3 won't do anything close to 200 metres, I'm afraid. The stated maximum range is 256 feet (78 metres), but in reality they are intended to be used at a much smaller distance. Both speed and reliability drop off dramatically as the distance increases.

Best advice is to have the router in the same room if possible, or an adjacent room if not.

The Nikon instructions are not the clearest, but they do work, so just follow those (google them if you don't have them).

You can achieve 200m with a repeater and further! Setting camera wifi can be a pain or relatively simple.
Firstly make sure you have a server software setup on your computer (Filezilla is a free download).
Next assign a series of ip addresses. Computer usually defaults to 192.168.1.1. If so assign your router/access point as 192.168.1.10 (can be any number in this sequence). Finally your camera will/could be 192.168.1.20.

You will need to designate an image folder on your desktop and point your camera wifi to it.
 
With clear line of sight, and the Nikon extended range antena, you may get 80-100m tops with a WT-3.. a little more with the WT-4.

We shoot wirelessly at over a kilometer, but as Graham says it needs some specialist (though not hugely expensive) repeaters.

It really depends on what you're trying to do.

200m is probably a little excessive and not needed for the type of events I do which are mainly just balls etc.

Any advice as to the most stable router available?

Just about any wifi router or access point will do. No need to spend a fortune. I still use an old Belkin I've had for years.

Also Router wise, would I need a dedicated networking wireless router or would a ADSL one do the trick? I understand the G and N thing but when looking at routers (well ADSL ones at least) they pretty much all seem to be N rated now but are backward compatible to G+ or G. Would this be ok or should I find an old recon one on the bay?

Really sorry to ask so many questions. I seriously should not get involved in networking as I have not got a clue!! If it's not plug and play I'm doomed!!
