I need to monitor my skin on a monthly basis by taking photos and noting any changes compared to previous photos.

I find that it can be difficult to get clear photos. I have just been using autofocus and it's a bit hit and miss.

As a beginner in photography, I'd appreciate advice on what kind of camera settings would optimise clarity.

The photos are taken using a tripod indoors and I have a Sony RX100 Mk3 camera.

Thanks in advance.

Rather than autofocus do it on manual focus, mark where you want to stand and where the tripod is so you can recreate the conditions daily.

Other advice is to make sure you have good lighting conditions, the more natural light you get in there the better since your ISO will be correspondingly lower. You are going to be relatively still so you don’t need a high shutter speed. Shoot wide open so you can get as much light as possible.

Thanks very much, both of these replies are really useful.

Yes, that page is full of very relevant advice.

Thanks again
