I am going out in an hour to try and get a few sunset shots and would like to know any tips you guys use for getting nice crisp images. I will be using a 5d mk2 17-40L and tri pod. Any advice will be appreciated.

Have you any filters? I find ND grads help.

This was taken at f11 for 1/320 at 135mm.

But its a bit of trial and error really, almost anything can work on some level so have a play and show us what you come up with later.

Cheers

take a few shots...and be fast
the sun as it sets gets a bit warmer and the light can be just as low as the reflected

use something as a motif...a sunset isnt the sun...its its effect on the surroundings..including the clouds

if you make the sun itself the subject....you lose the atmosphere it generates

ps dawns are better and require more effort
