I'm hoping to get a ticket for Carnival this weekend, and wanted to make sure my camera was set up correctly before hand rather than faffing about when I'm there.

I have a 450D with a 17-85 IS and 70-300 non-IS available for use.

If the weather is bright and sunny I'm thinking set the appropriate WB, set to ISO100, shoot in RAW using the Av mode, so I can adjust the DoF depending on the type of shot I want.

As for filters, am I better with none at all, a CPL, or just a UV?

Have I missed anything? Does this sound about right? Or would you suggest something different?

Thanks in advance :)

I'm not sure I would use any filters at all. You might find you end up with a shutter too slow if it turns out to be a dull day and the CP is going to cost you 1 or 2 stops.

Take a UV if you must but I think you'll find a lot of people here would say it's only good for protecting your lens if you dont use a hood.

Other than that AV mode is probably the best choice.

Definately AV, but be prepared to up the ISO if the shutter speed is too slow. Also, if people are moving, then set A1servo.
