Very difficult shooting yesterday, constant rain dodging, spray and condensation but I pulled something half decent from a first time visit.

Thanks Stu. I'm new to waterfalls, I'm new to shooting no sky. I tried once a few years ago but really struggled with composition. This time I struggled with conditions, still chasing Mr Spencer's standard for this type of subject.

Yeah I found the waterfalls a touch tricky too. Only advice I can give is shoot in your own style and don't try to emulate someone else's.

Aye, I don't want to emulate him Stu, I want an image that is of the same standard, as in, an image I can say is as good as his, if not better. It could take several trips.

I do like the shot, there isn't much 'POP' to the shot. some of this is due to the weather as you've explained but I think a little PP would give it a little something. for me your watermarks have ruined it for me. I cant imagine the image would print out very well if someone saved it off here and also the water mark would be very easy to remove if someone wanted to so all it effectively does is ruin it for people wanting to look at the image.

I wouldn't know how to make this POP, I'm new to waterfalls, I last tried 4 years ago and I struggled then. Can you give me an example of a waterfall shot with POP?? You might be right about the watermarks.

There were a few more from this trip, I'd like to try on a different day, without rain!

I know they're not the best waterfall shots, a subject a need to get to grips with.

The 1st thing id say would help them to pop is to set your black and white points manually in ACR this tends to open up the image, Stopping the water looking grey and raisimg the saturation a little. Also with water like this in autumn make the most of the colour and try to limit the area that is just open water. I like the 1st and last of these images though

Hi Digifrog, your waterfall pictures work for me, decent composition, nice smoothness in the water and lovely autumnal colours. The twigs in the foreground of your 3rd picture in your second post is somewhat distracting.

Would agree that watermarks are pretty much a waste of time, anyone with any skill in PS/LR would be able to easily remove them.
