I currently have a d3 and a d90, but was considering perhaps selling both and getting two d700's. I really like my d3 and ideally I would have 2 of them, but cannot really afford it.

This seems like a good option. It just seems to me that the two d700s make a bit more sense.

Depends what you shoot

I would sell the D90 top it up and get yourself a D700 and keep the D3. That would be a decent enough kit.

I shoot mainly corporate, pr, press and weddings, with some odd studio work. I can't really afford to buy a d700 body even if I sold the d90. That's my main issue. Otherwise that's what I would do.

Not sure the cost of a pair of D700s would be covered by selling a D3 and D90, the used price of both has come down quite a lot lately.
