Sheep etc.

Big sale at Gisburn. No spare pens for late entries, three sale rings on the go - although I only photographed one.

A few hours at a sheepdog trial today. Doing a lot of the usual stuff but also working with the landscape to get some different views from higher up.

A Herdwick, not seen them before below Rivington.

I've not seen them there before either. A friend near Bolton has just bought a dozen or so, which might show up on their ground at Belmont.

Will he let them naturalize do you think Dave? That would be awesome.

There were only two in that field, I will have to be more observant !

I don't know what their plans are. They also bought a Herdwick tup so must be looking to breed some pure.

They only looked young, no kemp, I hope that he gets them up on the moor over winter in plenty of time so that they are able to start heafing.

The Derbyshire Gritstone annual show and sale yesterday. It too me a long time to get going, and didn't really get up to speed TBH.

I was too late to get ringside for the sale so only got in close late on when a few people had drifted away.

I'll only be attending two or three more sales this autumn then I might give this thread a rest as far as regular posts go as I'm aware it's getting (got!) repetitive. What my next 'serious' project will be I'm not sure. There will be one as soon as my book's printed.

Last Saturday was the annual Lonk show and sale. Three Lonk breeders from outside the main breed area brought sheep for inspection and registration, which is marked by a horn brand. This always has potential for photos.

Back at it again tomorrow for the big sale - 4000 odd sheep of many breeds through the ring. :D
